Butterfly House
Butterfly House
(see Property Gallery above) is situated in an idyllic position, in a small rural village, Majkusi, on top of a hill overlooking the sea, with breathtaking views across Istria. At 330 metres (1,000 feet) above sea level, the village is surrounded by woodlands and countryside. From the "sky roof"- a flat roof terrace on top of the house - you can enjoy the sunrise over mount Učka, the sunset over the Adriatic Sea, the Italian coastline and views of woodlands, fields and villages all around; even the Swiss Alps, 250 kilometres away, can be glimpsed. "It's like being out of this world", as a visitor described it. A well-known local artist, Severino Majkus has counted 73 villages and towns visible from Majkusi on a clear day. He also demonstrated that "we have the remarkable possibility here to see the curvature of the earth with our naked eye". From here you will enjoy exploring the local countryside, walking (or running!) along the lanes through local villages, swimming in the crystal clear Adriatic Sea (15 mins drive away, on the outskirts of Poreč) or just simply relaxing and absorbing the peace of the natural surroundings.
The stone-built house is approximately 200 years old and was recently lovingly renovated by it's Croatian owner and converted into a comfortable holiday home. It has accommodation for a maximum of 12 people, 3 bathrooms, a hall or dance-room for group-work, balconies on each of the 3 floors and a "sky room" to enjoy the views any time. A large garden surrounds the house, with a majestic mulberry, a tall cypress, a large oak and fruit trees, as well as a wealth of shrubs and flowers. A large variety of birds and butterflies keep us company most of the time. A newly built outdoor swimming pool and free wireless broadband will add to your leisure.
Ideally situated within easy reach of Pula Airport (40 mins drive), you can easily reach most of the Istrian historical, cultural and natural attractions from Butterfly House. These include:

- The marvellous 3km Laguna coastal walk
